So Fong

On Saturday, the 18th of October 2025, a celebration took place for the return of the 70-foot teak schooner, So Fong. Built to a Sparkman & Stephens design, So Fong was launched at A. King Shipyard in 1937 and has a long and colourful history. The yacht was alongside at the Aberdeen Boat Club’s Middle Island clubhouse and some 150 people came to admire the historic vessel.

“We are delighted that, after an 87-year absence, So Fong is back home and will once again be a regular sight on the waters of Hong Kong,” said Philip Giannecchini, chief executive officer of Hong Kong Historic Vessels Ltd.

Hong Kong Historic Vessels operates a fleet of classics. These are Java, So Fong, Tai Mo Shan, Typhoon and Wayfoong. Call 2813 1831 to find out more.
